Vyatskopolyansky District

District in Kirov Oblast, Russia From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Vyatskopolyansky District (Russian: Вя́тскополя́нский райо́н), sometimes spelled Vyatsko-Polyansky District (Вя́тско-Поля́нский район), is an administrative[1] and municipal[5] district (raion), one of the thirty-nine in Kirov Oblast, Russia. It is located in the southeast of the oblast. The area of the district is 907.71 square kilometers (350.47 sq mi).[citation needed] Its administrative center is the town of Vyatskiye Polyany (which is not administratively a part of the district).[1] Population: 30,659 (2010 census);[2] 34,044 (2002 Census);[7] 38,451 (1989 Soviet census).[8]

Administrative and municipal status

Within the framework of administrative divisions, Vyatskopolyansky District is one of the thirty-nine in the oblast.[1] The town of Vyatskiye Polyany serves as its administrative center, despite being incorporated separately as an administrative unit with the status equal to that of the districts.[1]

As a municipal division, the district is incorporated as Vyatskopolyansky Municipal District.[5] The Town of Vyatskiye Polyany is incorporated separately from the district as Vyatskiye Polyany Urban Okrug.[5]
