The village is divided into two municipal areas, *Wadi Chahrour el-Oulia* (Upper Wadi Chahrour) and *Wadi Chahrour el-Soufla* (Lower Wadi Chahrour), each governed by its own municipal council of 12 members.

Wadi Chahrour forms part of the southern Mount Lebanon region, administratively under the Mount Lebanon Governorate and the Baabda District. As of the 1998 local elections, Wadi Chahrour el-Soufla and Wadi Chahrour el-Oulia each had a 12-member municipal council.
