Walter J. Blum (August 18, 1918 – December 18, 1994) was an American legal scholar who was a professor of law at the University of Chicago Law School.[1] He was a pre-eminent figure in tax law.[2]
Blum was born on August 18, 1918, in Chicago Illinois. He attended the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools between 1929 and 1935.[3] He graduated with an A.B. from the University of Chicago in 1939. In 1941, he obtained a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School, graduating first in his class. He was a member of the Order of the Coif, Pi Lambda Phi, and Phi Beta Kappa and was editor-in-chief of the University of Chicago Law Review.[2]
