Wassa Akropong is a big city and is the capital of Wassa Amenfi East Municipal in the Western Region of Ghana .[1][2][3]
- ↑ . Its name was derived from was Wassa language:“Akuro=towns” and “pong=big” which means capital town of Wassa. Wassa Akropong also doubles as the traditional capital of Wassa Amenfi Traditional Area . The Wassa people are Akans who live predominantly in Ghana. Some other best known Wassa Amenfi East towns are: Bawdie, Ankonsia, Asikuma, Dadieso, Dompuase, Japa, Nananko, Afransie, Saamang, Nnyinabirem, Abesewa Gyaamang, Gyedua, Wassa Powuako, Wassa Saa, etc. They are well recognized and respected for their traditions and gold mining.
