West Sunderban Wildlife Sanctuary

'West Sunderban Wildlife Sanctuary is a wildlife sanctuary located in the South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, India. Established on September 11, 2013, it covers an area of 556.45 km2 comprising the Dulibhasani and Chulkati forest blocks in the Sundarbans delta. Bounded by the rivers Matla and Thakuran, the sanctuary features a polyhaline mangrove ecosystem characterized by dense Ceriops decandra and Excoecaria agallocha forests. The area serves as a critical habitat for the Bengal Tiger, Estuarine Crocodile, and Gangetic Dolphin, acting as a vital ecological buffer for the Sundarban Tiger Reserve.[1][2][3][4]
