The result was speedy keep. Withdrawn by nominator: I missed that IEEE fellowship is explicitly listed as automatically qualifying for WP:PROF. I don't think that's a particularly good policy - considering the IEEE has like 8,000 fellows which to me is clearly not "highly selective" - but it is policy. --AntiDionysius (talk) 19:15, 26 March 2026 (UTC)

Definitely fails WP:SIGCOV. The obituary in the Gloucester Times is a solid source. However, apart from that, the sources cited amount to being mentioned in 2 lists of awardees, one thing the subject wrote himself, one piece of corporate PR, and death and marriage notices for the subject and his wife. Searches do not indicate that there is much more coverage out there that has failed to be included.
I think the subject also fails WP:ANYBIO. Fellowship of the IEEE is not "a well-known and significant award or honor"
, and the SEMI Award even less so (as someone with an electronic engineering degree, I've never even heard of it). And "one of the first ion implanters for semiconductor manufacturing" is not "a widely recognized contribution that is part of the enduring historical record in a specific field"
; if it was widely recognised, it would appear in more sources. Currently it's sourced to a corporate PR page.

- Very Strong Keep, and I suggest that AntiDionysius consider withdrawing the nomination. Both APS Fellow and IEEE Fellow are accepted as automatic passes of WP:NPROF#C3, so having two is a very strong pass. One can add to that the SEMI award which would probably also by itself be a pass of WP:NPROF. Because he flies through NPROF the question of ANYBIO and SIGCOV are irrelevant. I expect this to be a SNOW pass based upon NPROF.Ldm1954 (talk) 18:49, 26 March 2026 (UTC)
