Doesn't appear to be notable, NFL player without a squad and only passing mentions in the majority of sources, most of which are primary or not at a significant distance from the sport. Porterjoh (talk) 23:35, 14 June 2026 (UTC)

- @Porterjoh: What does
not at a significant distance from the sport
mean? What guideline are you referring to? Can you provide an example of a source that you believe suffere from this? Cbl62 (talk) 01:33, 17 June 2026 (UTC)- Hello, clumsy wording on my behalf. WP:SIGCOV states "
- "Independent of the subject" excludes works produced by the article's subject or someone affiliated with it. For example, advertising, press releases, autobiographies, and the subject's website are not considered independent." While some of those sources on the page are not directly from the NFL/Utah State, they are NFL fan/news sites (in the case of Broncos Wire), or simple news reports from the likes of SI. I don't think these demonstrate SIGCOV of the subject from an independent source, personally. Feel free to disagree. Porterjoh (talk) 17:34, 17 June 2026 (UTC)

- Delete: Rather brief pro career and not much coverage otherwise, I don't see notability. Not every pro athlete will be notable here and a distinct lack of sourcing isn't helping. Oaktree b (talk) 15:28, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
- Keep: I see sigcov from a lot of sportsnews websites such as Heavy, BroncosWire etc - this passes GNG Jishara (talk) 13:45, 30 June 2026 (UTC)

Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, Spartaz Humbug! 14:47, 30 June 2026 (UTC)- Source 1 - ProFootballReference profile. Stats only, certainly no sigcov
- Source 2 - Utah State profile. Stats only, no sigcov.
- Source 3 - Broncos Wire (SI Broncos Fansite) article about his name change. A little family background in there.
- Source 4 - Cannot currently access, may be unique to me as I'm in the UK
- Source 5 - Best source so far on his early life and college career. Not sure what the Utah Statesman is? Student newspaper?
- Source 6 - Utah State profile again. See 2.
- Source 7 - Passing mention about Denver UDFAs from The Athletic, but would probably say this was decent coverage.
- Source 8 - Short profile from Broncos Wire. Nothing much new here that isn't in 5 or 7.
- Source 9 - Sports Reference page. Stats only.
- Source 10 - Passing mention of Broncos tryout.
- Source 11-17 - Transaction sources only.
- Source 18 - Broncos Wire report on CFL transaction. Not much of anything here.
- Source 19 - Short profile with little detail, no better than 8, 5 and 7.
- Source 20 - Not about Rowan but his brother.
- IMO while there's a lot of sources there's precious little detail. Source 5 is the best, with the Athletic article OK too but it's a one-paragraph mention. The rest are transactions largely or short profiles and/or fan coverage (Broncos Wire). Porterjoh (talk) 08:59, 3 July 2026 (UTC)
Delete. Source #3 Broncos Wire, #7 NYT, and #19 Sporting News each have some coverage, but not enough to meet GNG and certainly not enough when considering NOPAGE. #5 USU Statesman is a student newspaper and thus not reliable/independent. JoelleJay (talk) 13:17, 3 July 2026 (UTC)- Striking my delete !vote for now I guess, but agree with @Cbl62 about NOPAGE. IMO we'd be better off if sportspeople needed to meet both GNG and some achievement threshold. JoelleJay (talk) 14:00, 9 July 2026 (UTC)
- That's a little funny that you're basically arguing for WP:NGRIDIRON to come back when you're one of the main people who caused it to be deleted in the first place. WP:NSPORTS2022 (Top 10 by added text): 1. WhatamIdoing · 343,947 (56.5%) 2. JoelleJay · 53,175 (8.7%) 3. BilledMammal · 38,666 (6.3%) WhatamIdoing's 343K bytes was just splitting the page from the village pump. I'm curious to see what your achievement-based criteria would be. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 17:48, 9 July 2026 (UTC)
- ? I'm not arguing for NGRIDIRON to come back as the only notability criterion, which was how it was being treated pre-NSPORTS2022. I'm saying I would prefer it if athletes had to meet an SNG in addition to the existing GNG requirement. JoelleJay (talk) 08:58, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
- Most of the players on NGRIDIRON already met GNG, so yes you're "basically" arguing for it to come back. Unless you only think NFL All-Stars are notable? ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 12:20, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
- So you don't understand the difference between exclusionary and inclusionary criteria... NGRIDIRON was, pre-2022, inclusionary and meeting it superseded needing to demonstrate GNG while not meeting it only meant GNG had to be demonstrated. Currently we have a requirement to demonstrate SPORTBASIC/GNG regardless of meeting NGRIDIRON, and not meeting NGRIDIRON is still not exclusionary. I am advocating for an additional exclusionary achievement-based criterion that would supersede meeting GNG in cases where all coverage is hype for a future that never happened. JoelleJay (talk) 14:17, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
- I know all that, lol. I'm curious what your achievement-based criteria would be? If it's still one game in the NFL, then that would basically be the same as NGRIDIRON was before (for any modern player). Because all modern NFL players pass GNG. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 15:00, 10 July 2026 (UTC)

- Keep Passes GNG:
- USU football feature story: Patient White made the most of his opportunity - The Herald Journal
- Kyrese White is looking to go from complete unknown to member of Broncos' 53-man roster The Sporting News - This is downplayed above as a "Short profile with little detail" but that's not true as this article is 404 words. Wikipedia:One hundred words is usually WP:SIGCOV.
- I think the Broncos Wire USA Today articles are downplayed above as well. They go into detail on Kyrese Rowan (White) USA Today is not affiliated with the Broncos.
- How 2 rookie tryout players earned offseason shots with Broncos: ‘Go by what we see’ The Athletic (sports department of The New York Times) - the comment above said coverage on Kyrese in this article is only one paragraph but that's not true. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 18:26, 6 July 2026 (UTC)
- Keep, per WikiOriginal's analysis. Article meets GNG with the coverage from the Herald Journal, Sporting News, The Athletic and USA Today. BeanieFan11 (talk) 18:33, 6 July 2026 (UTC)

- Comment. Can't really argue with WikiOriginal's source analysis, but this is one of those cases that makes me think we'd be better off adopting some sort of "accomplishments" based notability standard. Rowan is touted in the lead as a "professional football" player, but he was not selected in the NFL draft (i.e., not one of the top 250 prospects) and has appeared in zero pro games. He also had an unremarkable college career: in his only decent season (2024), he was Utah State's No. 2 receiver with 44 catches for 526 yards. That ranked him at No. 210 among FBS receivers in 2024. See here. Being the No. 210 receiver in FBS is not a persuasive claim to notability. Cbl62 (talk) 01:46, 8 July 2026 (UTC)
- Rowan was on the Broncos' roster for last season: 2025 Denver Broncos season#Final roster. You previously implied Jared McGee was borderline even though he had less coverage than this and was never even an NFL camp body. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 16:28, 8 July 2026 (UTC)
- I see both McGee and Rowan as borderline. Both had limited SIGCOV, but neither had any really significant career accomplishments. According to PFR, Rowan never appeared in an NFL game -- is that incorrect? After being released by the Broncos, he then tried out in the CFL and was apparently released there as well and before the regular season began. And being the No. 210 receiver in FBS for one season (with no all-conference or even team honors) isn't so impressive either. Given our coverage-based notability standard, I was not a "delete" voter in either case, but I also can't bring myself to vote "keep" either. Cbl62 (talk) 18:01, 8 July 2026 (UTC)
- I have not seen any evidence that he played in a game. If he had not made the Broncos' regular season roster I would have probably joined you as a non-!voter, given coverage that does meet GNG but a not terribly impressive college career and no professional games. But that fact that he spent the season on the Broncos' roster, albeit injured, swayed me to !vote. Rlendog (talk) 19:53, 13 July 2026 (UTC)

- Comment I can understand seeing the sources differently to me (I stand by my own analysis fwiw, there's not much depth in a lot of them, but anyway), and can clearly see where the debate's going and it's absolutely fair enough, I even considered withdrawing the AFD after the last few days. I didn't nominate it because I wanted it deleted, but for discussion. What's come out of it is just more confusion from me on notability. I get that SIGCOV means notability but can't quite get my head around someone who has never and likely will never play a professional football game being notable, while other sports have world championship participants deleted in the past. Not a dig at anyone or anything, just one of the peculiarities of this place at times. :) Porterjoh (talk) 09:31, 14 July 2026 (UTC)
