The result was keep. There is a consensus to keep the article based on there being enough coverage to satisfy WP:NSCHOOL and WP:GNG. Whilst a participant did invite specific editors to the discussion, they didn't request them to !vote in a particular way. Deletion sorting lists remain the best way for editors to decide whether they want to participate in an AfD discussion. (non-admin closure) 11WB (talk) 13:45, 12 April 2026 (UTC)

- Keep I have added significant new material and references to the article. RIT caters to students mostly from the state of Tamil Nadu, which has a population of 72 million, with some from the rest of India. The college has been approved since 2013 by the statutory All India Council of Technical Education. It is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, with its grade rising from B++ in 2019 to A+ in 2024. Besides teaching students, RIT conducts programmes for faculty and staff of other academic institutions. Overall, my assessment is that this is a notable college in Indian engineering education, and its importance is likely to grow with time. --Tagooty (talk) 10:58, 22 March 2026 (UTC)
Delete — Going through the sources yielded in a GNews search, all of them are pretty ROUTINE. Couldn't find any SIGCOV.BhikhariInformer (talk) 02:46, 23 March 2026 (UTC)- Most of the press coverage (2018-2026) is in 3 leading Tamil dailies: Dinakaran, Dina Thanthi and Dinamalar. Circulation of the first two is > 1 million each, and the third is ~700,000. About 30 articles in 2025. I'm working on extracting the more significant ones.
- The college was ranked 10th out of 310 engineering colleges by Anna University in 2024. Its NAAC A+ rating puts it in the top ~10% of rated colleges. It is one of the 20 educational institutions run by the reputed Ramco industrial group, starting from 1950, so is likely to grow in size and stature. Tagooty (talk) 09:45, 24 March 2026 (UTC)

- @Iljhgtn, BhikhariInformer, and Filmssssssssssss: I believe RIT meets the notability guidelines:
- 1. Per WP:SCHOOLOUTCOMES "2. Most independently accredited degree-awarding institutions have enough coverage to be notable, although that coverage may not be readily available online."
- RIT is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), India since 2019. It is accredited since 2021-22 by the National Board of Accreditation, a statutory national body in India that is a full member of the Washington Accord.
- 2. Per WP:NONPROFIT "Organizations are usually notable if they meet both of the following standards:
- The scope of their activities is national or international in scale.
- The organization has received significant coverage in multiple reliable sources that are independent of the organization."
- Satisfies (1) because: RIT is approved by the national AICTE and accredited by two national agencies. Students pan-India are eligible to apply for admission, though currently most are from the state of Tamil Nadu (population 72 million, larger than many countries). Graduating students are hired by multinationals such as TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Cognizant, and Accenture.
- Satisfies (2): Every year 10s of articles in large-circulation regional and national dailies: Dinakaran, Dina Thanthi, The Hindu, Times of India, Dinamalar. Circulation of the first four 1.1 - 1.8 million each, and the fifth is ~700,000.
- To add some history, the Ramco Group of industries is about 90 years old. 75 years ago, charitable trusts of the Ramco Group started their first educational institution and now they run 20 educational institutions including RIT. There is a consistent record of service which is likely to continue. Tagooty (talk) 16:13, 26 March 2026 (UTC)
- Keep I am convinced by the press section on their website, which contains more than 200 articles dedicated to the college. Kelob2678 (talk) 22:03, 28 March 2026 (UTC)
- Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, Ad Orientem (talk) 00:18, 29 March 2026 (UTC)- Keep, as the articles in WP:THEHINDU push this one into the range. The press office is not counted in my opinion because it is primary. Anyone can send out memos. SenshiSun (talk) 09:58, 29 March 2026 (UTC)
- Keep, The Hindu articles count towards WP:GNG. SecretSpectre (talk) 10:31, 29 March 2026 (UTC)
Comment: Besides the newspaper coverage, the A+ assessment by the independent national accreditor NAAC puts RIT in approximately the top 10% (estimated) of all NAAC-accredited colleges in India. This counts towards WP:SIGCOV and WP:GNG --Tagooty (talk) 05:07, 4 April 2026 (UTC)
- Keep. Looking at their Press, they are covered by The Hindu for multiple times over the years. Enough to pass general notability. --SatnaamIN (talk) 00:14, 6 April 2026 (UTC)
- Keep After going through their press page....indeed they have been covered multiple times in news gazettes. Enough to meet GNG and NSCHOOL. Changing my vote to Keep from delete in the pre-relist discussion. BhikhariInformer (talk) 03:50, 7 April 2026 (UTC)
