I propose merging to Major League Gaming because WP:NCORP notability concerns. Business Journals is a trade source, Times Union a local one and VentureBeat shouldn't add notability. It appears to me the Major League Gaming is the most notable part. IgelRM (talk) 13:42, 8 July 2026 (UTC)

  • Selective merge to both Major League Gaming and Warner Bros. Games. The MLG acquisition in 2009 should have sources merged there, but it seems like they actually is a little meat on the bones here about WB Games New York as well. It's all local coverage as the nom mentioned, but only the Venture Beat article is sourced in the main WB Games article at the moment. Certainly doesn't seem to pass WP:NCORP on its own.

What is unclear to me is how much Agora and WB Games New York are related. For example, the VentureBeat article appears to describe it more like Steven Flenory is the only retained part? IgelRM (talk) 13:56, 8 July 2026 (UTC)
Agora Games was what the company was called before 2017 when WB Games bought them and they became WB Games New York. RedStar2002 (talk) 01:17, 9 July 2026 (UTC)
WB Games also plays a big part with the technical aspect of a lot of WB Games titles and their work also helps show other parts of how these games are done. I made the list of all the games they worked on. RedStar2002 (talk) 01:22, 9 July 2026 (UTC)
Is there a reliable source that stated WB intended to continue Agora other than keeping this Hydra technology? It could be that they absorbed it, which effectively ended Agora. That doesn't mean it cannot be mentioned on WB page but I think the merge should remain with MLG. IgelRM (talk) 13:29, 13 July 2026 (UTC)

Close due to the weak nomination. Does WB Games New York fail WP:CORP? This is a critical premise of the merge proposal, and “concerns” is too weak to equate to “failure”. A better source analysis is needed. I see five WP:GREL sources, and they are WP:Interviews. It’s a straight question of “do sources that are have all their SIGCOV coming from the interview (quotations or very close paraphrasing) of non-independent people (eg Steven Flenory, studio head for WB Games New York in downtown Troy) can be considered evidence of Wikipedia-notability? If “yes” then keep. If “no” the pseudo-delete by redirection to Major League Gaming. User:WhatamIdoing? SmokeyJoe (talk) 23:20, 24 July 2026 (UTC)
I don't know whether this should be merged or kept in the split state. I think the decision should be made by someone who has a vision about how to write a coherent article(s), instead of by someone trying to enforce a strict reading of NCORP.
Despite what the nom says, longer articles in reputable WP:TRADES are allowed for notability purposes, and the assertion that the Albany Business Journal is a trade rag appears unsupported. Our article on the notable publisher of the "trade magazine", American City Business Journals, says it's a business newspaper instead of a trade magazine.
The first sentence of Times Union (Albany, New York) says it's a regional newspaper, rather than a local one. Go read Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies)/Audience requirement if you need more information on how WP:AUD works, particularly paying attention to the words "every newspaper that has a regional media market".
I don't know why VentureBeat is being rejected as a source. I got a 404 error when I tried to read the article.
I haven't looked at the interviews, but I also wonder whether anyone has tried to find additional sources (e.g., a proper WP:BEFORE search). WhatamIdoing (talk) 06:52, 25 July 2026 (UTC)
I appreciate a close reading of my nom, but I think my nomination is not particular extraordinary. Briefly regardless of details, there is no consensus of American City Business Journal being a reliable source on WP:RS/PS. I recall from my experience that VentureBeat is generally excluded from notability discussions. Simply, I could not find further sources and I don't think the sources here should be the focus of this AFD. IgelRM (talk) 00:24, 31 July 2026 (UTC)

All discussions are closed, this !vote makes no sense. FaviFake (talk) 14:37, 26 July 2026 (UTC)
Close” means close without declaring a consensus, due to an inadequate nomination. A merge may be a good idea for reasons not given in the nomination, and the nomination as put should be rejected. SmokeyJoe (talk) 22:44, 28 July 2026 (UTC)

So is that a !vote to WP:SPEEDYKEEP the article? Based on the statement by the nom? What? FaviFake (talk) 21:25, 29 July 2026 (UTC)
No, not “speedy”. SmokeyJoe (talk) 21:30, 29 July 2026 (UTC)
Then I have no idea what you're !voting. FaviFake (talk) 18:50, 31 July 2026 (UTC)
I’m !voting Reject the nomination, it is not a good reason to merge. —SmokeyJoe (talk) 00:21, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
  • Merge selectively as suggested and as reasonable in these circumstances. However, I challenge the bald and factually incorrect assertion that Albany Business Review, Albany Times-Union, and/or Variety are unreliable, local, or trade sources. This would be a terrible precedent if unchallenged, because it could lead to deletion of thousands of articles that are sourced from those news outlets. I almost !voted against the proposal because it's on flimsy reasoning. Closing admin, please keep those sources when they are merged. Call this a concurrence, not an agreement. Bearian (talk) 21:00, 28 July 2026 (UTC)
I did not mention Variety. The question is whether the individual articles are sufficiently significant for CORP notability. Regardless, an AFD close would not set a precedent. IgelRM (talk) 00:04, 31 July 2026 (UTC)
Post nomination comment: Would there be a redirect target with a selective merge? I only thought about Agora Games above, so I forgot that redirecting WB Games New York to Major League Gaming is chronologically confusing. So I naturally would agree to redirect that to Warner Bros Games. IgelRM (talk) 00:58, 31 July 2026 (UTC)
A redirect will always be created to comply with WP:CWW. But you can change the target. FaviFake (talk) 21:36, 31 July 2026 (UTC)
