Genshin Impact is an action role-playing game by miHoYo that was released in 2020. The game features an anime-style open world environment that uses elemental magic and character-switching. It takes place in the fantasy world of Teyvat, home to seven nations, each of which is tied to a different element. The story follows the Traveler, an adventurer separated from their sibling, as they travel across Teyvat with their guide Paimon. The game has received generally positive reviews, with critics praising its combat mechanics and open world, but criticizing its endgame and monetization model. - Reasons for nomination: Going to get this out of the way now (March 20) while I'm still thinking about it, because I'm probably going to forget later and I'll actually post the request on the TFAR page when submissions are open for September 28. Anyhow, September 28, 2026, will be the sixth anniversary of the game's release. Genshin Impact is currently listed as a level 3 vital article and has articles in 53 languages, so there is clear global interest in the game. This is my first featured article too.
