Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Arts

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a collection of discussions on the deletion and merging of articles related to Arts. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.

Adding a new AfD discussion
Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
  1. Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
  2. You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Arts|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
Removing a closed AfD discussion
Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
Other types of discussions
You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Arts. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
Further information
For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

Olufuko Festival and Olufuko festival overlap. There are two related subtopics – the practice and a festival in Outapi – so each may deserve its own article. However, each article currently describes both, sometimes with contradictory information. One article might be renamed Olufuko and concentrate on the concept, with the other documenting the Outapi event, but having never heard of the practice I'm reluctant to step in and make a mess. Or we could just merge them. Certes (talk) 12:08, 16 July 2026 (UTC)

  • Support, there shouldn't be two articles with the same name. In my opinion, the practice should be the main article under the name Olufuko, the festival can then feature as a paragraph in that article, as well as in Ovambo people and Outapi. --Pgallert (talk) 16:20, 16 July 2026 (UTC)
  • Merge to Olufuko festival (or to new article Olofuko if one is written). Not only are the current articles mixed up, but it is unlikely a hapless reader could ever figure out which article they wanted based on those names. I think that the specific local Festival is a detail for an article on the festivities in general, and a merge and redirect will make that work. M kuhner (talk) 20:11, 16 July 2026 (UTC)

Daily Guide is a puff-piece about marrying "his longtime lover", it's a wedding announcement: "the ceremony was attended by a number of friends and family including showbiz personalities". What is needed is in-depth significant coverage in independent reliable sources. Re: "others" he does not inherit notability from the actors in his film. Coverage must be about him to meet notability guidelines for filmmakers per WP:CREATIVE, and/or GNG. Netherzone (talk) 19:41, 2 July 2026 (UTC)

Thank you @Netherzone for your input. To add, the entity passes WP:CREATIVE based on the fact that he has nominations for notable awards as added to his profile. Inasmuch as we need just a handful of coverages about him to meet the notability guidelines, here a few: from Screen International --> https://www.screendaily.com/features/why-ghanaian-director-amartei-armar-started-filming-vagabonds-before-it-was-fully-financed/5211466.article , from Format Court --> https://www.formatcourt.com/2022/12/amartei-armar-yemoh-ike-et-sebastien-hussenot-autour-de-tsutsue/ , from Africa International Film Festival --> https://www.creationafricaghana.com/initiatives/africa-international-film-festival-in-lagos --Siagoddess (talk) 22:32, 2 July 2026 (UTC)

You are welcome @Siagoddess, I don't think those award noms or awards would count. When I search the Cannes Film Festival, his name does not return anything . When I search the Red Sea Film Fest, all I see is his name mentioned as a co-producer on two films entered into the festival, but no mention of him specifically wining an award, nor any significant coverage of him. Many people were part of these two short films and he doesn't inherit the notably. The Golden Movie Awards website is a dead link, so it seems that nomination is not for a notable award. The other awards are non-notable. The Screen Daily article is about someone else: the director Amartei Armar, not him; the Short Format citation is an interview so it is a primary not an independent secondary reliable source; and the Creation Africa is a press release simply stating he attended a festival. I'm very sorry to disappoint, but none of these count towards notability. I'm holding off on !voting for now, but it seems that it is still WP:TOOSOON for Yemoh Ike to have an encyclopedia article. Great North Run Cultural Programme

Great North Run Cultural Programme (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)
(Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL)

Completely unreferenced article about a seemingly defunct cultural event with no strong claim to passing WP:NEVENT. As always, festivals and other events are not "inherently" notable just because they happen(ed), and have to be shown to pass WP:GNG on their sourceability, but this is completely unreferenced -- and the article has not been updated since 2013, while even the event's own self-published website, while still nominally in operation, still lists 2015 and 2016 events as "current programme" with no updates since 2016.
Since this was held in conjunction with a more notable and much better-sourced sporting event, a mention in that sporting event's article would be perfectly fine -- but it's already mentioned in that article, and no real expansion of that mention is necessary since there's nothing properly sourced here to merge.
Since 2016 was a decade ago and thus the topic wouldn't Google that well, I'd be happy to withdraw this if somebody with access to archived British media coverage can find enough sourcing to salvage it -- but it can't keep a completely unsourced article. Bearcat (talk) 16:49, 1 July 2026 (UTC)

All coverage of her is about her involvement in Twelve Forever. All sources that are not about that show do not have enough WP:SIGCOV, such as . Her work in other projects (directing/writting a few cartoon episodes here or there, etc.) is too marginal to help her notability. The music video for Bubblegum Dog she co-directed is not notable by itself, the sources do no provide any independent analysis of it, only statements by Vickerman and her coworker; the song appears to be notable, but that can only help the notability of the musicians who made it (WP:BAND), not the co-directors of a music video it got.

This article was sensibly a redirect to Twelve Forever for four years, but now the redirect was undone and the page immediately became a magnet for people who want to WP:RGW by using unreliable sources to boost iffy rumors . V. S. Video (talk) 20:03, 9 July 2026 (UTC)

Hmm, you make a good point about the article. I don't usually say that in AfD discussions, so this is a bit rare. I was going to say "weak keep" but I'm going to vote to redirect the Julia Vickerman article to Twelve Forever, as that is her biggest project to date. It sounds like you are favoring a redirect. And if a redirect is done, I would say that any relevant articles and content should be added to Twelve Forever, so as to update that article.
Otherwise, you are entirely right about some people trying to add "unreliable sources to boost iffy rumors" as I've been trying to address that on the talk page. People already have tried to add those kind of sources to Twelve Forever page for years and as such I've been dealing with that for a while as evidenced by the talk page with recent comments this year particularly by the user who created the Vickerman article and the archive page, covering 2020-2024. There was even a discussion years ago on the Biographies of living persons Noticeboard back in 2021 as well.
I'm not sure Vickerman is known for much more than Twelve Forever (a search on Google News I did for "Julia Vickerman" pulled up 13 sources, most of which are reliable, and are almost exclusively about Twelve Forever, to give an example). Even so, I do think a redirect is the way to go at this point, if only to benefit users who may be looking up about Twelve Forever on here. In solidarity - Historyday01 (talk) 21:37, 9 July 2026 (UTC) Update: Julia Vickerman tag on Animation Magazine lists five articles. Only two of those describe her in any depth: "A Deeper Reboot" (quoted twice, mentioned once) and "Netflix Orders ‘Twelve Forever’ Series from ‘Powerpuff,’ ‘Clarence’ Vet" (quoted twice, mentioned three other times). Both are already cited in the Vickerman article. A search on Google Scholar for "julia vickerman" only pulls up three results: a page in the book "Batman: the Animated Series" (By Joe Sutliff Sanders) where she is quoted as talking about an episode in that series, a page in a Spanish-language thesis (cannot find the page) and another source listed on Google Scholar as "[CITATION] As Meninas Superpoderosas [Seriado]." I also searched on Wikipedia Library and only found three results: the "How The Bravest Knight is turning the tide for LGBTQ kids programming" article in EW (already in the article), the "A Deeper Reboot" article in Animation Magazine (already in the article), and an article in People entitled "Ricki Lake Posts Photos of New Rescue Pup Following Death of Beloved Dog Mama: 'She Is Perfect'" which barely mentions her at all.In solidarity - Historyday01 (talk) 23:25, 9 July 2026 (UTC)

Very unverifiable BLP Completely unsourced BLP save for two sources... But they are user-editable and thus unreliable. (my bad, I was looking at a vandalized version of the page, but looking at the correct version, it's still very "barely" notable, which is definitely not the standards of a BLP). The article seems to have been recreated after speedied for G12. I'm not checking whether there is any egregious copyvio, but I did check on Google whether there were other sources, but there were none that could reasonably contribute to verifiability other than those that do exist and are in the article. • Keep - none of us speak Persian, or do we? No, I thought not. The article is a trainwreck and the online sources mostly in Persian (not very surprisingly).. But it is pretty clear he is notable, and should not become another person deleted for not being American. One of the pages (briefly) free on Mutual Art (to which I do not subscribe) says he has sales at auction of $190K from 7 works, which is a lot for an Iranian artist, and strongly suggests notability. Unfortunately the links in the article to the Tehran auction house are almost completely useless as they don't give lots #s and just go to the main page, rather than the page for the item, like this $21K landscape found via google. That the article's bio details are not adequately referenced doesn't matter much, or at all, for notability. Johnbod (talk) 15:25, 28 June 2026 (UTC)

There's many more news articles with him being honoured in various ways for his calligraphy and painting. He seems very well-known, so a weak keep. Fences&Windows 18:33, 15 July 2026 (UTC)

I propose redirecting to Hawaiʻi State Library because only one Carnegie library was ever built in Hawaii, and that library already has an article. Thus, it is very unlikely that this list will ever be expanded. Epicgenius (talk) 13:35, 15 July 2026 (UTC)

I maintain that my response is not LLM-generated text. What I have learnt now is to be a bit informal in my response as being formal can easily be taken as alien. I say again that the subject meets WP:GNG and WP:BASIC through significant and non-PR coverage in independent and reliable secondary sources. The nominating editor relied on sentence styles, rather than actual sources, to say the article fails WP:PROMO and must be WP:UPE. I had to remove entire sections like "Philanthropy" etc and trimmed down some sentences to address neutrality and also to bring the article to meet WP:NPOV.
Note also that the article meets WP:GNG & WP:RS as the references show in-depth, independent profiles and coverage of his regional real estate impact in Vanguard, The Independent, Daily Post, Punch, and The Nation etc.
Also, the subject has an executive role in the Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN). Again, I have no connection to the subject as to suspect WP:COI. This article should be kept. Royalrumblebee (talk) 13:27, 14 July 2026 (UTC)

Not seeing any evidence that this architecture firm meets WP:NCORP for lack of sufficient WP:SIGCOV of the company in independent, reliable sources. The closest thing to it is an article in Dezeen on an Edmonds project, but it's really coverage of the house project with only passing reference to the firm. Similar Dezeen pieces don't appear to be independent -- the only sources they quotes are Edmonds International people and press releases, and it's also SIGCOV of the hotel projects, not of the company. Other sources are WP:TRIVIALMENTIONS (, , , , , , ). I didn't find any qualifying WP:CORPDEPTH coverage in my WP:BEFORE search. And before anyone cites WP:NCREATIVE, that guideline only applies to people, not companies. Perhaps Michael Edmonds as a person would meet the guideline (there appears to be one project of his that has received multiple reviews, perhaps there are more), but the guideline does not apply to Michael Edmonds' company. • Delete I agree with nom. This is a company therefore GNG/WP:NCORP requires at least two deep or significant sources with each source containing "Independent Content" showing in-depth information *on the company*. "Independent content", in order to count towards establishing notability, must include original and independent opinion, analysis, investigation, and fact checking that are clearly attributable to a source unaffiliated to the subject. I'm unable to identify any references that meet the criteria for establishing notability. HighKing++ 10:34, 13 July 2026 (UTC)

"Ratusz" in Polish just means "Town Hall", and there's no much difference between Polish town halls and the rest of Europe, and as such there really no reason for this article to exist. To add to confusion, the opening paragraph also pretends that the scope of the article also covers German town halls becouse the words in two langued are related and Lithuanian town halls becouse the joined history of two countires, but in fact, it really doesn't. The history section also does not bring anything unique to the topic, really only discussing notable historical town halls and their architecture and some history of the municipal law. Really, the only justification for existence for this article is the pretending that it's a completely different concept becouse the title is in a foreign language (which I fear is not an issue limited to only this article). Having said all that, I propose the deletion of this article, redirecting the name to the main Town Hall article, and if there's anything worth preserving from this, to copy it to said article, provided it makes sence with how that article is structured. Alternatively, if it were to stay, this article could be renamed to the "List of town halls in Poland", thought I'm not sure if there's a demand for such entry. Artemis Andromeda (talk) 01:20, 7 July 2026 (UTC)

  • Comment Also to add to my point, if you go to discussion page, you will find several other editors pointing out how pointless this entry is, and how inaccurate it is. And I would agree with it, as it does have a lot of unsourced stuff, and what I belive, is just plainly made up by author, to make its existence more jutifiable. For example, the line, "Unlike a regular city hall which may or may not have any specific architectural compositions, ratusz rathaus) always consisted of a building with a tower", is just plainly wrong and a lie, to cleary draw a distinction between "town hall" and "ratusz" so users don't question why this entry exists. Also, it's completely unsourced. And the entire article is basically like this, and its shocking it survived over a decade like this. Artemis Andromeda (talk) 01:28, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
  • Delete. A before search shows this is just the term for a town hall. The fact that editors have been confused about this article for over a decade shows this is unlikely to change.
  • I'm pinging @Poeticbent, who expanded the article, as this discussion may be notable for them. They haven't edited in years, so they may not reply.
SenshiSun (talk) 06:41, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
  • Weak merge. My first thought was to merge this to Town hall, where Rathaus (German) already redirects. We also have seat of government but that is a bit broader. It's pointless to have a separate articles on town halls by country, they are not that specific (maybe European town halls would make some sense...). Note that pl:Ratusz is interwikilinked to en wiki town hall already, so this is really nothing but a WP:CONTENTFORK. PS. To be clear, I think it's fine to start a Town hall#By country subection with further subections such as Poland, where the Polish one can be merged into. That said, BEFORE suggests there is some (Polish) scholarship on Polish town halls (see , in particular and ). So it is not impossible a town halls in Poland article could make sense, and maybe this is true for others. But since Town hall is not too long, I'd rather see the merge there, and if a list grows too large, it could be split somehow. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 09:01, 8 July 2026 (UTC)

  • Redirect to Town hall. Khalitate (talk) 05:07, 14 July 2026 (UTC)
  • Delete.

The term has no historical unifying basis. The article combines medieval town halls from at that time culturally German cities in Silesia and former Prussia, and bunches them together with town halls from at that time culturally Polish cities. In addition to that several town halls from the 19th or 20th century are mentioned, which are centuries away from the other listed exampels. The placement in the middle of the market square also doesn't apply in many cases. In conclusion, the article bunches together town halls - featuring towers - from several eras and cultural regions and labels them under the term "ratusz". In this case the term does not represent a historical term (a type of town hall, as it features buildings from the 14th to the 20th century), nor a geographical term (town halls featured mention examples in cities that were never part of a Polish state, historially or today, like Hamburg). Considering the dates of construction, the type of buidling described is featured under a Polish term, while the features itself are found in German town halls earlier than in the Polish ones (towered town halls are largely found in Bavaria, Franconia, Saxony and Brandenburg). A Polish term is used to describe something, that spread from the German influenced areas to Polish ones, which makes the term even more misleading. ~2026-39960-00 (talk) 22:22, 16 July 2026 (UTC)[4]
