Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Engineering

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Engineering. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.

Adding a new AfD discussion
Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
  1. Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
  2. You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Engineering|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
Removing a closed AfD discussion
Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
Other types of discussions
You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Engineering. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
Further information
For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

This subject is presumably not notable considering that no references are included. Looking through this page's revision history, I have found that there were never any citations, which brings into question why this article was created in the first place because no facts were ever verifiable. • Comment — I see a number of Hans India articles in a GNews search. All looks ROUTINE to me, but still, I would request someone to check if we can get three useable sources out of them. BhikhariInformer (talk) 01:57, 12 March 2026 (UTC)
Keep – The article has significant coverage in independent reliable sources, and the promotional issues mentioned in the nomination have been addressed.
The article has been rewritten in a neutral tone and promotional wording has been removed. Reliable independent news sources such as The Hindu and The Hans India provide coverage about academic collaborations, admissions reports, and student programs related to the institution.
    Examples of coverage include:
The Hindu (2025) – Report on international academic collaboration with Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka.
The Hans India (2023–2025) – Reports on admissions statistics and institutional events.
Although some sources may appear routine individually, together they show sustained independent coverage over multiple years, which satisfies WP:GNG and WP:NSCHOOL.
The article has been improved to follow Wikipedia style guidelines and no longer reads like a brochure.
Therefore, the article should be kept. MANOHAR4517 (talk) 13:21, 12 March 2026 (UTC)

    MANOHAR4517 (talk) 11:42, 13 March 2026 (UTC)
Keep – Further clarification regarding notability and SIGCOV.
The subject has coverage in independent reliable sources including The Hindu and The Hans India. The Hindu article about the international academic MoU is a full news report and provides significant independent coverage, which satisfies WP:GNG. Additional reports from The Hans India discuss admissions statistics, student programs, and institutional activities across multiple years, showing sustained independent coverage rather than a single routine mention.
In addition, the institution is permanently affiliated with Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada (JNTUK), and is listed on the official university website among autonomous / affiliated colleges, confirming that it is part of a recognized higher-education system.
    Official source:
    https://www.jntuk.edu.in/autonomouscolleges
The article has been rewritten after nomination to remove brochure-like wording and promotional content, addressing the WP:BROCHURE concern.
Considering the independent coverage, official university listing, and improvements made to the article, the subject meets WP:GNG and WP:NSCHOOL. Therefore, the article should be kept. MANOHAR4517 (talk) 11:42, 13 March 2026 (UTC)

  • Weak Keep, a little to my surprise! His prior position as Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University for Development Studies appears to be equivalent to Provost in a US university. That is on the edge of satisfying WP:NPROF#C6. The fact that he was elected with > 80% of the vote helps, as does some coverage (albeit not the greatest). Note that he obviously has gone the administrative route so his Scopus etc is less relevant, and there was a typo in the link to his university which I corrected. N.B., the page could do with a little cleaning, but that can wait. Ldm1954 (talk) 01:29, 15 March 2026 (UTC)

Biography of a racing engineer, not reliably sourced as passing inclusion criteria for racing engineers. The main notability claim here, induction into a hall of fame, would be fine if the article were properly sourced, but is in no way an automatic notability freebie without WP:GNG-worthy sourcing -- but the only footnote here is a very short blurb on the self-published website of that hall of fame itself, a primary source which is not support for notability because it isn't independent of the statement it's sourcing. We need to see third party coverage about him and his work in the media, not the self-published websites of directly-affiliated organizations.
And further, this is the only source that has ever been present in the article at all, going all the way back to its original creation in 2009.
Nothing here is "inherently" notable enough to exempt him from having to pass GNG on much, much better sourcing than this. Bearcat (talk) 15:43, 10 March 2026 (UTC)

Biography of a political figure, not properly sourced as having any strong claim to passing WP:NPOL. The strongest notability claim here is that he served for several years on a city commission, which is not a level of office that constitutes an automatic notability pass -- and no, it's not the same thing as the city council, but was a municipal committee whose members were appointed to their jobs by the city council.
But the article is not sourced anywhere near well enough to claim that he would pass NPOL #2 on this basis -- apart from one article about his appointment to the commission, this is otherwise referenced to a glancing namecheck of his existence on one page of a history book about the city, one very short blurb about his much later candidacy for another office that he didn't win, and a news brief about the death of his wife, none of which constitutes substantive GNG-worthy coverage.
There's just nothing here that would be "inherently" notable enough to exempt him from needing much, much more than just one substantive GNG-building source. Bearcat (talk) 02:32, 5 March 2026 (UTC)

I'd like to !vote keep on this one but it would be nice to see some more sources... Plenty of hits on Newspapers.com, but it's a common name and searching is a bit difficult. • Delete - missing from the Canadian encyclopedia. Bearian (talk) 01:31, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
Bearian, this comment struck me as odd. The link you've provided is to an article about the Department of Natural Resources, created 40 years after Arthur Harrison died... If you meant to say he doesn't have his own article in The Canadian Encyclopedia, that's not really a metric by which we can determine notability. The Canadian Encyclopedia is missing articles on plenty of notable people, for example, Roger Stuart Bacon and Russell MacLellan, two former Premiers of Nova Scotia who are very much notable. That's what happens when you only have about 25,000 articles. Would you care to elaborate? MediaKyle (talk) 12:09, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
Sorry, I used that link to search for articles about Canadian topics. You have to enter his name and hit search. I wasn't aware that it is not comprehensive. Can you please provide evidence of notability? Bearian (talk) 12:13, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
I'm not totally confident yet that he is notable, but I would say that the entry I linked above is a good GNG-worthy source. I tend to think by virtue of the fact that we're still talking about him 70 years after he died that there's likely more out there... I was just waiting to see if anyone else comes up with more sources. MediaKyle (talk) 12:23, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
  • Comment: I've added a handful more citations to the article. There is a road in Edmonton named after him. He was quoted from in a handful of American newspapers in 1914. Not sure if proves notability but it's something. GreenVolvox (talk) 23:32, 10 March 2026 (UTC)

  • Keep, but requesting quote snippets on the Kansas citations because I'm not sure why a reporter there would talk about municipal issues in Edmonton, Alberta. (It's very far away.)
SenshiSun (talk) 20:12, 13 March 2026 (UTC)
You're right, that is curious isn't it? I just found one of them on Newspapers.com: "Municipality provides people playgrounds". It checks out. It seems folks down south were interested in what was going on in Edmonton at the time for some reason. MediaKyle (talk) 20:19, 13 March 2026 (UTC)

Keep: I'm satisfied with what GreenVolvox managed to come up with. We can call this a WP:GNG pass. -- MediaKyle (talk) 10:38, 13 March 2026 (UTC)
