Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Games
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is a collection of discussions on the deletion and merging of articles related to Games: board, card, etc. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Games|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Games: board, card, etc. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
- Further information
- For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

Paladin (Dungeons & Dragons)

I propose merging to Character class (Dungeons & Dragons) because the article as written fails WP:INDISCRIMINATE and probably WP:GNG as well due to its mostly primary or WP:VALNET sourcing. The article on the character classes would appear to be the most logical WP:ATD. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 06:19, 14 August 2026 (UTC)

- Keep separate because in addition to these two identified sources, there are any number of passing mentions in the scholarly literature. Paladins in AD&D were special, rigid, and particular. They've since been dumbed down, but commentaries on how they played out in the Satanic Panic give the Paladin a decent footprint compared to other subclasses. Jclemens (talk) 08:13, 14 August 2026 (UTC)
- @Jclemens Any chance you could add a few sentences on this, or even a sentence? The reception looks decent I am already in the weak keep camp, but what you write seems interesting, yet not in the article as far as I can tell... - Mizer, N.J. (2014), The Paladin Ethic and the Spirit of Dungeoneering. J Pop Cult, 47: 1296-1313. link is entirely about the class.
- Bruner, Scott M. San Diego State University ProQuest Dissertations & Theses, 2017. 10640769. link is an MA thesis that spends 7 pages on the class.
- Keep. Satisfies WP:GNG. Plenty of sourcing there. Clearly notable topic which has influenced large quantities of other games and literature. -- Necrothesp (talk) 11:14, 14 August 2026 (UTC)
- Keep - The book The Evolution of Fantasy Role-Playing Games (2014) by Michael Tresca has just over a page dedicated to the paladin (the Google Books preview I looked at says pg88-89 but the Reception section says pg84-85 so not sure if that is a typo or if a digital edition got renumbered) plus smaller mentions throughout the book. I also found two essays in Dungeons & Dragons and Philosophy (via Wiki Library) which use the paladin as an example. I've just incorporated those mentions. The article needs more cleanup but it satisfies WP:GNG. Sariel Xilo (talk) 16:52, 14 August 2026 (UTC)

History of Chaotic Trading Card Game
- History of Chaotic Trading Card Game (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)

I propose merging to Chaotic because of a lack of sources. I can not find anything on the Dracco Company, Draco Heads, Grolls & Groks, or Chaotic: Now or Never! I've already gone ahead and moved any relevant info to the Chaotic page, which focuses on the whole brand/franchise. This page on the card game history is overly detailed about in-game lore and lacks sources, and the few that it does have no longer work. So I propose we delete this page and make it a redirect to Chaotic or Chaotic Trading Card Game. Eric Schucht (talk) 15:36, 8 August 2026 (UTC)

- Delete Doesn't seem to be anything to merge, it's very heavy WP:OR. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 17:11, 8 August 2026 (UTC)
- Merge selectively to Chaotic Trading Card Game. There are a few sections that are sourced; in particular, this goes into more detail on Chaotic: Now or Never! than the merge target. ~ A412 talk! 23:20, 9 August 2026 (UTC)

Niantic Spatial
- Niantic Spatial (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)
- (Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL)
I propose redirecting to Pokémon Go because coverage of Niantic Spatial is not independent of that company, and because most coverage of Niantic Spatial only talks about them insofar as they relate to Pokémon Go. WikipediholicRat (talk) 17:47, 24 July 2026 (UTC)

- oppose- this is a perfectly fine content fork. They also don't develop Pokemon Go anymore, and I think it's reasonable to assume that merging them to Pokemon Go would become messier and messier as they develop independently of it. Yojo98 (talk) 18:13, 24 July 2026 (UTC)
- Comment: this has been tagged as a potential NCORP failure since April, so this being a separate article may not be valid. I'm not as convinced Pokémon Go is the right target, though, given that Niantic Spatial is result of the sale of much of Niantic, Inc., to Scopely, and the immediate spinoff of the non-games portion–which means the connection between Pokémon Go (which stayed with Scopely) and Niantic Spatial is tangential at best, coverage notwithstanding. Perhaps a merge back to Niantic, Inc. would be logical or due (certainly moreso than Pokémon Go in this case), but I'm not giving a formal opinion on that. WCQuidditch ☎ ✎ 18:33, 24 July 2026 (UTC)
- thank you for the context, WC! I think a merge and redirect to Niantic, Inc could be appropriate, although it could get a little confusing with tense and clarity. I would defer to how other such spinoff merges has been conducted in the past, and continue to oppose merging to Pokemon Go Yojo98 (talk) 18:44, 24 July 2026 (UTC)

- I oppose. If it redirects to any game it should be the one they actively develop, Ingress.
- Niantic Spatial is its own company separate from Scopely and Pokemon Go. CollinstheClown (talk) 13:32, 25 July 2026 (UTC)
- Oppose Pokémon Go is not related to Niantic Spatial. Niantic has essentially been absorbed into Scopely since last year. nianticlabs.com redirects to Scopely. Niantic Spatial is a spinoff from the Scopely purchase in which Niantic's IP and other services were kept. My issue with the Niantic Spatial article has been it's not notable to be a separate article in its current form. – The Grid (talk) 15:55, 27 July 2026 (UTC)

- Strong Oppose redirect to Pokemon Go Pokemon Go has nothing to do with Niantic Spatial. Niantic Spatial is a company made up everything from Niantic not related to video games. Pokemon Go is not included in that. A discussion can be had if this can be merged to Niantic, Inc, but Pokemon Go is a completely inappropriate target.
