Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Louisiana
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is a collection of discussions on the deletion and merging of articles related to Louisiana. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion and neither does removing an AfD from this page remove it from the main page at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- Edit this page and add
{{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}}to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear. - You should also tag the AfD by adding
{{subst:deletion sorting|Louisiana|sig=~~~~}}to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- Edit this page and add
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Louisiana. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
- Further information
- For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

Doesn't appear to be notable outside of niche publications. I believe the redirect to Game Changer Wrestling should be restored. Vgbypw (talk) 13:11, 29 September 2026 (UTC)
- Keep. Being real here, I made the article mainly to differentiate it from the rest of the series of events under the Bloodsport name. Considering the importance of the inaugural event as it was the start of the entire series of events, that should be enough to keep it. Besides that, reliable sources regarding future events and some that cover this have been published overtime. I will be looking for more sources as if you haven't exactly found out, ESPN even did an article on this event. Also, calling the Wrestling Observer, WrestleView, and Fightful "niche" is giving me indicators that you don't know what you're talking about (seriously though, look at the Wikipedia:WikiProject Professional wrestling/Sources page). Unknownuser45266 (talk) 13:16, 29 September 2026 (UTC)
- I am not calling those sources unreliable, but they are still niche sources. Niche sources will cover all sorts of events, even those that aren't notable. For example, soccer niche sources will report on every event related to soccer. This doesn't mean that every event in soccer is notable. Vgbypw (talk) 16:03, 29 September 2026 (UTC)
- To be completely honest here, I would probably suggest also looking into some of the sources listed. Dave Meltzer for example (despite some of his flaws) has worked with various news outlets including Yahoo! Sports, Sports Illustrated, the Oakland Tribune, and The National Sports Daily in addition to his work for the Wrestling Observer. Also, this could also fall under the mixed martial arts category as there was a lot of influence from MMA for the Bloodsport events and even some MMA sources cover it. - Keep These sources shouldn't be dismissed as "niche" and they establish notability.LM2000 (talk) 01:05, 30 September 2026 (UTC)

I do not see sufficient reference material to support this article. Note source numbering is of revision . As to the sources, source 1 is by his employer, so not independent. 2 is written by him, so not independent. 3 is written by his associate/friend of 35 years, so not independent. 4, by him, not independent. 5 only briefly mentions him, so not substantial coverage. 6 is a site's search result, so not any kind of substantial coverage. 7 is a sales site for his book, so definitely not independent. Additional searches don't turn up anything better, so I don't see notability here. Seraphimblade Talk to me 20:20, 14 September 2026 (UTC)

- I understand your comments about the sources. I will do additional research. I have no doubt about the notability of this subject. He was an art critic for several decades in New Orleans and he wrote for international publications, so he knew a lot of people. Is is better to create a draft of this article as I work on it? Comment: The burden of proof for a deceased subject is on the nomination. Bearian (talk) 23:21, 19 September 2026 (UTC)- Keep There seems to be fair number of book mentions in Gbooks and this e.g. , a book of poems dedicated to him as well as a couple of obits and co-author of a book. I think its more than borderline. scope_creepTalk 06:49, 21 September 2026 (UTC)

- Delete: Scattered mentions in Gbooks or Scholar with some published photographs, but nothing extensive. Not listed in the Getty ULAN , likely fails artistic notability. Oaktree b (talk) 18:31, 22 September 2026 (UTC)

- Delete per Oaktree b's statement above. What we can find is his memoir. But Wikipedia is not memoir. Dylan Reed (Ping me) 06:59, 30 September 2026 (UTC)
