Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Northern Ireland

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a collection of discussions on the deletion and merging of articles related to Northern Ireland. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.

Adding a new AfD discussion
Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
  1. Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
  2. You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Northern Ireland|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
Removing a closed AfD discussion
Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
Other types of discussions
You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Northern Ireland. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
Further information
For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

This list is also part of the larger list of deletion debates related to UK.

Repeated third-party candidate for office who has not attracted any meaningful attention, much less significant coverage, during those campaigns. Because he's run in several different elections, there is no obvious redirect. PA Uploader (talk) 21:02, 4 July 2026 (UTC)

  • Note: this discussion has been included in the list of Liberalism-related AfD discussions. AaronNealLucas (talk) 21:04, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
  • Comment: while this did survive the first nomination in 2008, our standards have undoubtedly been tightened over the past 18 years (and BLPs are supposed to have relatively strict inclusion standards). No opinion as to whether it does fall short in 2026. WCQuidditch 01:07, 5 July 2026 (UTC)

Timeline of Bloody Sunday (1972)

Timeline of Bloody Sunday (1972) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)

This article relies almost exclusively on a single source; with several bits of useful text from it having been incorporated into the Bloody Sunday (1972) article, it no longer performs a useful purpose. Talk:Bloody Sunday (1972), at "Merge proposal: Bloody Sunday (1972) ← Timeline of Bloody Sunday (1972) -> *Proposed deletion*", contains a useful discussion on a previous proposal to merge this article into the Widgery Tribunal one: now that the latter exists as a satisfactory stand-alone article, that merge proposal is redundant and deletion would appear not to be an issue Billsmith60 (talk) 21:24, 17 June 2026 (UTC)

Comment As noted on the Talk page, the Timeline article was a stop-gap pending - at the time - a final report by Saville. I think the only thing that would bear retaining is the table on the Talk page showing the differences between Widgery and Saville as to which soldier fired which shots, given that in many cases Saville did not come to the same conclusions. Nick Cooper (talk) 10:50, 18 June 2026 (UTC)

Hi, Saville superseded Widgery, the latter being replete with errors - for instance Mr A. Nash being shot by a civilian and not the Paratroopers. The information in the table (rather than the table itself) might be worth using in the Widgery Tribunal article as illustrative of the differences between the two. Given how fast Widgery worked it is no surprise his rushed work contains so many errors. Cheers Billsmith60 (talk) 13:06, 18 June 2026 (UTC)
