Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Russia

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a collection of discussions on the deletion and merging of articles related to Russia. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.

Adding a new AfD discussion
Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
  1. Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
  2. You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Russia|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
Removing a closed AfD discussion
Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
Other types of discussions
You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Russia. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
Further information
For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

This list is also part of the larger list of deletion debates related to Europe.

I propose merging to Anton Bakov because of little independent notability; a vanity enterppize of a Russian businessman with monarchist inclinations. Much of content is overlapping. --Altenmann >talk 03:38, 21 July 2026 (UTC)

There was no such "semi-autonomous principality". A sloppy translation from Tatar: Tatar: Мишәр йорты, romanized: Mishar yorty means simply "Territory of Mishar Tatars" ("yurt", literallly "house" has many meanings; in may even mean "clan") and even in these scarce sources nothing is spoken about any kind of polity. --Altenmann >talk 02:01, 18 July 2026 (UTC)

I find it baffling how this was accepted through AfC. There is no evidence of SIGCOV in the article. This article from Russian Aviation Insider would count, if not for the fact it is a WP:WORDPRESS site, evident at the bottom of the page. The articles that aren't database sites only provide non-interesting news reports about a new plane they purchased, of which the company has two in total. If necessary, this can function as a redirect to List of airlines of Russia, where interestingly, it isn't currently listed. (Likely due to its insignificance). 11WB 💬 02:34, 18 July 2026 (UTC)

Non-notable figure skater; fails WP:NSKATE and WP:GNG. Sources include blog forums, stat databases, and something called "FS Gossips". Bgsu98 (Talk) 06:18, 17 July 2026 (UTC)

Principality of Lars

This page is not notable. It is true that the "Principality of Lars" existed however it is not a notable feudal state like Kabardia or Tarki Shamkhalate is. It didn't exist as a state after the death of Sultan Larsinsky, anything that will be added to this page can be discussed in Sultan Larsinsky's page, which wont happen because his article is much longer than this one. the so called "Principality of Lars" is not a notable feudal entity, the 'principality' didn't have any princes before Sultan Larsinsky and no one after him too, it simply is not notable thus I think this page should be deleted.  Preceding unsigned comment added by Ch3rk.essk0 (talkcontribs) 03:07, 13 July 2026 (UTC)

  • Note: this discussion has been included in the AfD sorting lists for the following topics: History, Georgia (country), and Russia. Shellwood (talk) 14:34, 16 July 2026 (UTC)
  • Delete I can't find any non-Wikipedia source calling this a principality. The Russian Wikipedia (which is obviously still Wikipedia but at least might point us in the right direction) has this as a village. Maybe the English article could be rewritten to be about the village but calling it a principality doesn't seem supported. --Here2rewrite (talk) 01:44, 21 July 2026 (UTC)

Islamic State insurgency in the North Caucasus

Created by a sockpuppet, this appears to be a WP:POVFORK of Insurgency in the North Caucasus so the articles should be merged. FDW777 (talk) 13:14, 14 July 2026 (UTC)

  • Note: this discussion has been included in the AfD sorting lists for the following topics: Terrorism and Russia. Shellwood (talk) 13:20, 14 July 2026 (UTC)
  • Selective merge per nominator's rationale. The POVFORK seems to be longer than the main article. FaviFake (talk) 15:18, 14 July 2026 (UTC)
It will definitely be a merge that summarises instead of having a sentence for every single gun attack or bombing. FDW777 (talk) 10:47, 15 July 2026 (UTC)
