Italic titles for routes?
Looking at Silence (climb), I see that the name is consistently italicised in the article, but there's no {{italic title}}. This seems to be the case with many routes. Should they always be italic, and if so, should they not also be italic in the title? lp0 on fire () 17:06, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
- I personally use italics for route names (per the main climbing magazines, and it is easier for the reader as some route names can be quite confusing in sentances) and italic titles, but I have seen others revert his (e.g Dreamtime (climb)) as a violation of MOS:ITALICS. - I think route names should always be italicised (for the reasons above). MOS:TITLE is a guideline, and this is an edge case that probably just hasn't been considered yet. If reversions become a problem we could probably change the policy (there's some advice at WP:PGCHANGE). — Spacepine ☆ talk 07:35, 21 July 2026 (UTC)

- Pascal Debrouwer is on the list at List of people who died climbing Mount Everest? Was there somewhere else you where thinking of? thanks. Aszx5000 (talk) 15:20, 5 February 2026 (UTC)
Updates to climbing infobox templates
I have made some updates to:
If editors need other changes or have other comments leave here or on the talk page of the template in question. Aszx5000 (talk) 08:38, 13 May 2026 (UTC)
- @Aszx5000: based on #Italic titles for routes? above, I wonder if you could add {{italic title}} to {{infobox climbing route}}, like what's already done with {{infobox journal}}. I looked into doing this myself, but wasn't confident I wouldn't break something. lp0 on fire () 09:33, 26 July 2026 (UTC)
