Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Infoboxes

I do a lot of work on various chips. I was surprised to find there is no infobox for ICs. There's several for CPUs, a major subclass of IC's, but that's it. The only other ones I could find were electronic component, which is more for LEDs and resistors and individual parts like that, and computer hardware, which is more for hard drives and monitors and such.

It would be very similar to the CPU template, but the Performance section can be reduced to slowest and fastest, Physical specifications can be reduced to pin count and/or package (like "DIP40"). Architecture, Cache and Products can be removed outright. We would have to add a "type" sort of thing at the top so you could make the TMS9918 a "video display processor" or the SN76489 a "programmable sound generator".

Is someone willing to work with me on this? I'm not confident enough with templates to do it myself, but I have a firm idea of what it should look like.

Before starting a template, it probably would be best to discuss and create a work page that for fields in this new template, such as: field name, description/purpose for each field, and examples for each field. This method would allow people to bring of concerns and/or issues that need to be resolved to make the template resonably useful. • Sbmeirow • Talk • 10:44, 23 May 2026 (UTC)

I'm currently working on a page which uses Template:Infobox project and it does not have a module param which is useful if a project overlaps with an organization or you need to put a parent organization.

Unfortunately I dont know how to add new params to templates nor the other procedures that go with it. Would anyone be willing to help out? AML KING (talk) 18:29, 12 May 2026 (UTC)
