Wood baronets of Gatton (1808)

The Wood baronetcy, of Gatton in the County of Surrey, was created in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom on 3 October 1808 for Mark Wood, a military engineer in Bengal and politician.^[1] The second Baronet represented Gatton in the House of Commons. The title became extinct on his death in 1837.^[2]

^This barony was created by Simon de Montfort, who, in the King's name, issued writs of summons to a parliament to attempt to stabilise his position during the Second Barons' War. This barony was given its precedence by the House of Lords in 1806.
