Jones, from Mississippi,[3] writes the lyrics for Monet herself, and uses Suno to generate the music.[1][4] Following a bidding war, Monet was signed to Hallwood Media for $3 million.[5][6] Singer-songwriter Kehlani criticized the deal, saying that she felt Jones was "doing none of the work".[7]
