Yuan Yue (Chinese: 袁悦; pinyin: Yuán Yuè; Mandarin pronunciation: [ɥɛ̌n ɥê] ⓘ; born 25 September 1998) is a Chinese professional tennis player. She has career-high WTA rankings of No. 36 in singles, achieved in May 2024, and No. 57 in doubles, reached in September 2025.

Yuan has won one WTA Tour singles title at the 2024 ATX Open. She also earned two titles in doubles.

Career

2018: WTA Tour debut

Yuan made her WTA Tour main-draw debut at the Jiangxi International Open in the doubles tournament, partnering with Liu Yanni.[2]

2022: Major and top 75 debuts

She made her Grand Slam tournament main-draw debut at the 2022 Wimbledon Championships as a lucky loser.

At the next major, at the US Open, she reached the third round for the first time after qualifying by defeating Jaimee Fourlis and Irina-Camelia Begu without losing a set.[3]

2023: First WTA 1000 win and WTA Tour final

Yuan qualified for the 2023 Australian Open to make her debut at this major, and she also qualified for the Wimbledon Championships.[4]

She received a wildcard for her home tournament, the China Open, and defeated Elise Mertens for her first WTA 1000 win.[5]

Yuan reached her first WTA Tour final at the Korea Open where she lost to top seed Jessica Pegula.[6]

2024: First title & top-10 win, WTA 1000 quarterfinal, top 50

At the Hobart International, she reached the semifinals after qualifying, saving four set points against Yulia Putintseva.[7][8]

She reached the final at the 2024 ATX Open defeating Arina Rodionova, Taylor Townsend, Wang Yafan and Anna Karolína Schmiedlová.[9] She won the title defeating sixth seed and compatriot Wang Xiyu.[10] As a result, she moved into the top 50 in the rankings.[11]

At the Indian Wells Open, she recorded her first top-10 win over eighth seed Zheng Qinwen to reach the third round of a WTA 1000 event for the first time, having never previously get past the second round.[12][13] Next, she reached the quarterfinals for the first time with a win over Caroline Dolehide[14] and 11th seed Daria Kasatkina.[15] She lost in the last eight to third seed Coco Gauff.[16] At the other WTA 1000, the Miami Open, she recorded her first win at this tournament over Anna Blinkova,[17] before losing to Maria Sakkari[18]

In October, Yuan teamed up with Demi Schuurs to win the doubles draw of the WTA 500 Ningbo Open, defeating top seeds Nicole Melichar-Martinez and Ellen Perez in the final. As a result, she reached the top 75 in the doubles rankings, on 21 October 2024.[19]

2025–2026: Second career doubles title, three singles quarterfinals

Partnering Anna Blinkova, Yuan won the doubles title at the 2025 ATX Open, defeating McCartney Kessler and Zhang Shuai in the final.[20] At the 2025 Rosmalen Open, she gained entry into the main draw as a lucky loser and recorded wins over Anastasija Sevastova[21] and Kimberly Birrell,[22] before losing to third seed and eventual champion, Elise Mertens, in the quarterfinals.[23]

Yuan defeated sixth seed Antonia Ružić[24] and Sara Sorribes Tormo to reach the quarterfinals at the 2026 Transylvania Open,[25] at which point she lost to qualifier Daria Snigur.[26] Entering the main draw as a lucky loser, she also made it through to the quarterfinals at the 2026 ATX Open with wins over Rebecca Šramková[27] and Dalma Gálfi,[28] before her run was ended by Ashlyn Krueger.[29]
