Yungblud received generally positive reviews from music critics. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalised rating out of 100 to reviews from professional critics, the album has an average score of 69 out of 100, based on twelve reviews, indicating "generally favorable reviews".^[6] Aggregator AnyDecentMusic? gave it 6.6 out of 10, based on their assessment of the critical consensus.

Yungblud debuted at number 1 on the UK Albums Chart with 22,825 units, becoming his second number one album in the country.^[17] In the US, the album debuted at number 45 on the Billboard 200 chart with 13,000 album-equivalent units.^[18]
