History
ZED TV was established in early 2026 by a group of Iranians living abroad.[2][3] It is also supported by contributors within Iran.[2] The founders include journalists, technology specialists, media activists, and digital content producers. They have stated that their goal is to create an independent media outlet to deliver news and analysis to Persian-speaking audiences. The network's operations are managed from outside Iran.[3][4]
According to the network, ZED TV present news and reports and in a format aligned with the media consumption habits of the new generation. Its programs are inspired by social media.
In addition to satellite broadcasting, ZED TV uses digital tools and modern technologies, including artificial intelligence, for processing, translating, and rapidly distributing content. The network has stated that its goal is to facilitate access to information and increase audience interaction with the media.
ZED TV were the first to report that the crew of the Iranian logistics vessel, IRIS Bushehr, sought asylum in Sri Lanka following the sinking of another Iranian naval vessel, IRIS Dena, by the United States Navy. The Bushehr reportedly issued a distress call claiming mechanical failure and requested assistance from Sri Lanka. However, an inspection by Sri Lankan naval officers later refuted this claim, finding no evidence of any mechanical malfunction.[5]
