Ćamil Duraković
Bosnian politician and Vice President of Republika Srpska

Ćamil Duraković (born 18 January 1979) is a Bosnian politician currently serving as the Bosniak Vice President of Republika Srpska (since 2022).[1] He previously served as the Mayor of Srebrenica (2012–2016).[2]

Early life and education
Born near Srebrenica, Duraković survived the 1995 Srebrenica genocide via the "Column of Death" [2]. He later immigrated to the US as a refugee, earning a Master's degree in New Hampshire,[1] before obtaining a second Master’s degree from the University of Tuzla in 2018.[2]
Career
Returning to Bosnia in 2005, Duraković held various local roles in Srebrenica, serving as Deputy Mayor before becoming Mayor in 2012 [2]. As an independent, he focused on reconstruction and returnee rights.[2] Following his mayoral term, he served in the Srebrenica Municipal Assembly (2021)[3] and was elected as an independent Vice President of Republika Srpska in 2022.[3]
