John Broughton, né en 1952, est un astronome amateur australien. D'après le Centre des planètes mineures^[1], il a découvert 1193 astéroïdes numérotés entre 1997 et 2008. Ses observations sont effectuées à l'Observatoire Reedy Creek, dans le Queensland. Il était un des cinq astronomes à avoir obtenu la bourse Gene Shoemaker Near Earth Object Grants en 2002.

L'astéroïde (24105) Broughton a été nommé en son honneur.
