Le magicien Dijon (Erich von Stroheim) s'intéresse à l'hypnose et utilise sa femme Victoria (Jeanne Bates) comme cobaye. Cette dernière souhaite le quitter pour rejoindre la troupe du producteur Tony Holiday (William Wright (en)).
