Nicole Léger (parasitologue)

Sa carrière de chercheuse débute avec son doctorat et sa contribution à l’étude du comportement biologique du cysticercoïde d’Hymenolepis nana var. fraterna vis-à-vis de ses hôtes et des médicaments^[2]. Pharmacien de formation, elle étudie l’effet des médicaments sur divers helminthes parasites à la lumière de leur sensibilité ou de leur résistance à divers médicaments, couplant pharmacologie et systématique.

Elle réalise ensuite avec Claude Combes un travail sur l'écologie des cycles parasitaires avec les helminthes de Rana temporaria^[3].

Ses travaux avec Alain Chabaud se concentrent sur la systématique, l'évolution et les interactions hôtes parasites^[4].

Sa collaboration avec Jean-Antoine Rioux orientent sa carrière vers les maladies à transmission vectorielle, notamment les leishmanioses^[5].

Elle travaillera sur l'épidémiologie des leishmanioses en réalisant des missions de terrain en Corse, au Maroc, dans le bassin méditerranéen et bien au delà notamment en collaboration avec Robert Killick-Kendrick.

De ses différentes missions de terrains, elle constituera une collection issue aussi bien du pourtour méditerranéen que des diverses régions du monde qu'elle a prospecté, notamment d'Asie du Sud Est.

Jérôme Depaquit, son élève et successeur à la faculté de pharmacie de l'Université de Reims Champagne-Ardenne, héberge sa collection, comme précédemment celle du Pr. Jean Antoine Rioux^[12].
