クララ・ウォード

母親のガートルード・ウォードの娘として、フィラデルフィアで生まれた。1931年にはウォード・シンガーズとして活躍し始め、最初のグループは1952年まで、次のグループは1953年から1972年まで活動した。クララは生涯は経済的な困難や、交際相手による暴力など、さまざまな困難の連続だった。特にアレサ・フランクリン^[1]の父親であるCLフランクリン^[2]による暴力はBBキング^[3]やジェームズ・クリーブランド^[4]も目撃していた^[5]。クララ・ウォードは1973年に48歳で死去している。
