ジョン・ピーター・バージャー（John Peter Berger, 1926年11月5日 - 2017年1月2日）は、イギリスの小説家、美術評論家、画家、詩人、脚本家である。ロンドン生まれ。
マルクス主義的視点から視覚文化や社会問題を批評したことで知られ、特に1972年の著作『Ways of Seeing』（邦訳『イメージ―視覚とメディア』）は、美術批評・フェミニズム批評に大きな影響を与えた代表作である。小説『G.』(1972年)で同年のブッカー賞を受賞。晩年はフランスの農村に移住し、移民や農民の生活を描いた作品を多く発表した。
1926年11月5日、ロンドンのストーク・ニューイントンに生まれる。彼の祖父はイタリアのトリエステの出身、父は第一次世界大戦で軍人として活躍した非宗教的なユダヤ系カトリック信者であった。
第二次世界大戦中（1944-1946年）にイギリス軍に服務した後、ロンドンのチェルシー・カレッジ・オブ・アート・アンド・デザインとセントラル・セント・マーチンズ・カレッジ・オブ・アート・アンド・デザインで美術を学んだ。
1950年代には画家として展覧会を開きながら、美術教師を務め、批評家へ転向した。『New Statesman』誌などで美術批評を執筆し、マルクス主義的な視点から現代美術を論じた。
1960年代以降は政治的・社会的なテーマに深く関与。1970年代初頭にイギリスの生活に失望し、フランスのサヴォワ地方（ミューシー村クインシー）に移住。以後50年以上フランスに暮らし、農民や移民労働者の生活を題材にした作品を発表した。1974年には作家・読者出版協同組合を共同設立するなど、独立出版運動にも参加。
映画監督アラン・タネールとのコラボレーションで脚本を複数手がけ（『La Salamandre』1971年など）、晩年には写真家ジャン・モアとの共著でドキュメンタリー的な写真エッセイを多く制作した。
1972年、ブッカー賞とジェイムズ・テイト・ブラック記念賞（フィクション部門）を受賞した。

思想と評価
マルクス主義者として自己規定し、芸術を階級闘争や帝国主義批判の文脈で捉えた。『Ways of Seeing』はヴァルター・ベンヤミンの影響を受け、美術の商業化やジェンダー視点を指摘。移民・農民の「見られる側」の視点から、現代社会の疎外を論じた点で、後世の文化批評家（レベッカ・ソルニットなど）に影響を与えている。
