ベン・ファウンテン

(https://www.shinchosha.co.jp/writer/5853/) ノースカロライナ州生まれ。ノースカロライナ大学チャペルヒル校で英文学を学んだ後、デューク大学で法学を学ぶ。卒業後しばらくはテキサス州ダラスで弁護士として働くが、1988年に専業作家となる。
2006年刊行の初短篇集『チェ・ゲバラとの短い遭遇』でPEN/ヘミングウェイ賞を、2012年に初長篇となる『ビリー・リンの永遠の一日』で全米批評家協会賞を受賞。
『ビリー・リンの永遠の一日』はアン・リー監督により2016年に映画化された。2017年1月現在、家族とともにダラス在住。
