ホセイン・ナスル

出自

ナスルは、1933年にテヘラン南部中央部で、ペルシャ王家の医師であり、イランの近代教育の創始者の一人であるSeyyed Valiallahの息子として生まれた。 まだ原稿の形で残っている多くのエッセイとそのうちのいくつかはDanish wa Akhlaq （「知識と倫理」）と呼ばれる本にまとめられている^[5]。親はもともとカーシャーンの由来がある。 彼はアメリカの学者Vali Nasrの父である。

教育

テヘランのフィールーズ・バフラーム高等学校^[6]で学習し、13歳で米国に渡った。

ナセルは、ハーバード大学博士課程在学中の1955年に教師としてのキャリアを始めた。30歳になる前には教授に昇格した。

ハーバード大学でのキャリアの後には、イランへと戻り、テヘラン大学と、後のシャリーフ工科大学になるアーリヤー・メフル大学に職を得て、1972年には学長を務めた。

ナセルはイスラーム哲学をMuhammad Husayn Tabataba'i, Allameh Sayyed Abul Hasan Rafiee Qazvini などから学んだ。

ナセルはイラン皇后Farah Pahlaviの個人秘書に任命された^[10] 1974年に皇后は伝統主義者の原則に従って行われるべき最初の学術機関であるイラン王立哲学アカデミー（現在はイラン哲学研究所 ）を設立し彼にその指導を命じた^[10]。 その間、ナセル、タバタバイ、 William Chittick、Kenneth Morgan、Sachiko Murata、 井筒俊彦 、およびアンリ・コルバンなどと共に哲学的言説を建設した。

アメリカに戻る

ナセルはアメリカに戻ると、テンプル大学、エディンバラ大学で教鞭をとり、1984年以来ジョージ・ワシントン大学に在籍しており、現在はフルタイムのイスラム研究の教授である。

ナセルは、プリンストン大学、ユタ大学、南カリフォルニア大学などのいくつかの大学で、イスラムおよびイラン研究のプログラムの計画と拡大を支援した。

彼はPBSにおける番組、「ムハンマド：預言者の遺産」 Muhammad: Legacy of a Prophet (2002),の学術アドバイザーをも務めた^[11]。
