Blood on Ice ist das neunte Album von Bathory. Es erschien im Mai 1996 bei Black Mark Production.
Hintergrund
Nach den beiden eher Thrash-Metal-lastigen Requiem (1994) und Octagon (1995) kehren Bathory mit Blood on Ice wieder zum mit vorherigen Werken wie Hammerheart (1990) und Twilight of the Thunder God (1991) Viking Metal zurück.[1]

Rezeption
Im deutschen Metal Hammer besprach Tom Lubowski Blood on Ice retrospektiv in der Titelgeschichte Das Metal-Jahr 1996. Er lobte vor allem die musikalische Rückbesinnung der Band und das konzeptionelle Storytelling des Albums.[1]
