Gordon Fee

Gordon Fee war ein Sohn von Donald Fee, einem Pastor der Assemblies of God, der im Staat Washington tätig war. Er studierte an der Seattle Pacific University, wo er einen Bachelor und Master erhielt.^[2] Er machte seinen Doktor an der University of Southern California (USC), und er wurde zu einem Fachmann für Textkritik des Neuen Testaments und in der Pneumatologie.

Fee lehrte zuerst fünf Jahre am Wheaton College, das im Westen von Chicago liegt.^[1] und dann einige Jahre an der Vanguard University of Southern California. Von 1974 bis 1986 lehrte er Neues Testament am Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Hamilton, Massachusetts. Danach lehrte er am Regent College in Vancouver. Oft reiste er nach Afrika und Europa, wo er Missionsstationen und Kirchgemeinden besuchte und vielerorts lehrte und predigte. Am 21. April 2010 wurde ihm ein Ehrendoktortitel von der Northwest University in Kirkland, in Washington, verliehen.

Fee schrieb etliche Bibelkommentare zu verschiedenen Büchern des Neuen Testament, und um 1990 folgte er F. F. Bruce als Herausgeber des New International Commentary on the New Testament. Er steuerte die Kommentare des 1. Korintherbriefs und des Philipperbriefs bei. Er war auch Mitglied im Komitee der Bibelübersetzung (englisch: Committee on Bible Translation, CBT), welches die die englische Übersetzungen der New International Version (NIV) und ihre Revision, der Today's New International Version (TNIV), verantwortete. Ebenso gehörte er dem Führungsgremium des International Institute for Christian Studies.^[2]

2012 wurde bei ihm die Alzheimer-Krankheit diagnostiziert, was ihn zunehmend bei seinen Predigtdiensten und Führungsaufgaben einschränkte, so dass er von diesen Aufgaben zurücktrat und nur noch etwas schreiben konnte. Mit seiner Frau zog er nach New York City um, wo ein Sohn von ihnen wohnte. Am 25. Oktober 2022 starb er.^[3]

Fee war verheiratet mit Maudine, sie starb im Jahr 2014.^[1]
