Der WNBA Draft 2026 war die 30. Talentziehung der Women’s National Basketball Association und fand am 13. April 2026 erneut im Kulturzentrum The Shed in New York statt. Auch in diesem Jahr wurde der gesamte Draft landesweit auf ESPN ausgestrahlt.[1]

Die Dallas Wings wählten Azzi Fudd von der University of Connecticut als erste Spielerin. Fudd wird in Dallas wieder mit Paige Bueckers, ihrer ehemaligen Mannschaftskollegin der UConn Huskies, zusammenspielen. Bueckers wurde im Draft des vergangenen Jahres ebenfalls an erster Stelle von den Wings gewählt. Fudd ist bereits die siebte Spielerin der UConn Huskies, die als Nummer 1 in einem WNBA Draft ausgewählt wurde.[2]
Knapp eine Woche nachdem die UCLA Bruins ihren ersten NCAA-Meistertitel gewinnen konnten, wurde die UCLA zur ersten Universität, die fünf Spielerinnen in der ersten Runde des Drafts stellen konnte und von der insgesamt sechs Spielerinnen in einem Draft ausgewählt wurden.[3]
Die deutsche Nationalspielerin Frieda Bühner wurde von Portland Fire an Position 17 ausgewählt und könnte somit neben Satou Sabally, Nyara Sabally, Leonie Fiebich und Luisa Geiselsöder die fünfte aktive deutsche Spielerin in der WNBA werden.
Draft-Lotterie
Die Auslosung zur Bestimmung der Auswahlreihenfolge der ersten fünf Plätze fand am 23. November 2025 statt. Für die Lotterie qualifizierten sich die folgenden fünf Teams, die in der Saison 2025 nicht an den Playoffs teilgenommen hatten. Zum zweiten Mal in Folge gewannen die Dallas Wings dabei das Erstwahlrecht.[4]

WNBA Expansion Draft 2026
Die 14. und 15. Franchises der WNBA, die Portland Fire und die Toronto Tempo, die im Mai den Spielbetrieb aufnehmen sollen, werden über den Expansion Draft mit der Zusammenstellung ihrer Kader beginnen. Den beiden neuen Franchises wurde damit die Möglichkeit geboten, eine Spielerin von jeder anderen Franchise zu erwerben. Dabei konnte aber jedes Franchise vorab bis zu fünf ihrer Spielerinnen als nicht-auswählbar schützen.
Der WNBA Expansion Draft 2026 fand am 3. April 2026 statt und wurde landesweit von ESPN übertragen. Die Toronto Tempo und Portland Fire wählten dabei die folgenden 22 Spielerinnen von den anderen Franchises aus.[5]
