1894 Iowa Hawkeyes football team
American college football season
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The 1894 Iowa Hawkeyes football team represented the State University of Iowa ("S.U.I."), now commonly known as the University of Iowa, as a member of the Western Interstate University Football Association (WIUFA) during the 1894 college football season. In their first and only season under head coach Roger Sherman, the Hawkeyes compiled a 4â4â1 record (1â2 in conference games), tied for last place in the WIUFA, and were outscored by a total of 158 to 146.[1] The 1894 season included the first games in both the IowaâIowa State football rivalry and the IowaâWisconsin football rivalry. The Hawkeyes' 44â0 loss to Wisconsin remains the largest margin of victory in the 130-plus history of that rivalry.
