The 2023 Portsmouth City Council election took place on 4 May 2023 to elect members of Portsmouth City Council in Hampshire, England.[1] This was on the same day as other local elections across England.

The council remained under no overall control, being led by a Liberal Democrat minority administration.[2]

Immediately after the election the Liberal Democrat leader of the council, Gerald Vernon-Jackson, announced he was stepping down from the role. He was replaced at the subsequent annual council meeting on 16 May 2023 by Steve Pitt.[3]
