On March 28, 2024, the Hurricanes clinched a playoff berth for the sixth consecutive season after a 4–0 win against the Detroit Red Wings.[4]

On April 9, the Hurricanes clinched their third consecutive 50-win season.[5] In the playoffs, they defeated the New York Islanders in five games in the first round,[6] and faced the New York Rangers in the second round.
