Prior to the season starting, Thomas Frank departed as head coach after seven years to join Tottenham Hotspur.[1] Keith Andrews was then later appointed as the new head coach.[2] On 2 August, Nathan Collins was named captain, following the departure of previous captain Christian Nørgaard to Arsenal.[3]

This was the first season since 2018–19 without Christian Nørgaard and Bryan Mbeumo.[4][5]
