Format
In the initial phase of the season, the 12 teams played a round-robin tournament whereby each team faced each one of the other teams three times. After 33 games, the league was split into two sections of six teams, with each team playing each other in that section once. The league attempted to balance the fixture list so that teams in the same section play each other twice at home and twice away, but sometimes this was impossible. A total of 228 matches will be played, with 38 matches played by each team.

(C) Champions; (Q) Qualified for the phase indicated; (R) Relegated; (Y) Assured of at least the Conference League second qualifying round, but will qualify for the Europa League third qualifying round if Celtic win the Scottish Cup; (Z) Will qualify for the Conference League second qualifying round if Celtic win the Scottish Cup
Notes:
- Teams play each other three times (33 matches), before the league is split into two groups (the top six and the bottom six).
- The winners of the 2025–26 Scottish Cup, Celtic or Dunfermline Athletic from the 2025–26 Scottish Championship, qualify for the Europa League third qualifying round. Since Celtic have qualified for the Champions League, if they win the Scottish Cup the Europa League spot will be passed to the third-placed team (Rangers), and the spots for the Conference League second qualifying round will move down one league position meaning the fifth-placed team (Hibernian) will qualify.
