The 2026–27 season is Arsenal Football Club's 35th season in the Premier League, their 101st consecutive season in the top flight of English football, becoming the first team to spend 100+ seasons straight in the English top flight, and 110th season in the top flight overall. In addition to the domestic league, Arsenal are also participating in this season's editions of the FA Cup, EFL Cup, FA Community Shield and UEFA Champions League, the latter of which is their 41st European campaign. The season covers the period from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027.

For the first time since the 2016–17 season, Arsenal will be without Reiss Nelson after the club terminated his contract by mutual consent.[1] As a result of his departure, this is the first season that the squad will not contain a player that played under the club's longest serving manager, Arsène Wenger, since before the debut of former captain Tony Adams 43 years ago.[2]
This will also be the first since 2018–19 without Gabriel Martinelli, who joined Al Hilal for a reported club-record fee.[3]
Review
First team transfers (summer transfer window)
The Premier League's summer 2026 transfer window officially opened on 15 June and is scheduled to close on 1 September at 23:00 BST. The window followed the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which was held from 11 June to 19 July 2026, meaning clubs could complete transfers both before and after the tournament. [4]
On 1 July 2026, Arsenal confirmed the permanent signing of defender Piero Hincapié from Bayer Leverkusen, having activated the option to sign him permanently following his loan spell at the club.[5] Hincapié made 39 appearances in all competitions during the 2025–26 season and helped Arsenal win the Premier League title.[6] On the other hand, Karl Hein and Jakub Kiwior completed permanent transfers to Werder Bremen and Porto, respectively, after their respective loan clubs exercised options to sign them permanently.[7][8]
On 9 July, free agent goalkeeper Illan Meslier, formerly of Leeds United, signed a two-year deal with Arsenal, with the option to extend for a further year.[9]
On 15 July 2026, Leandro Trossard left Arsenal to join Turkish Süper Lig side Beşiktaş for a reported £17.1 million. Trossard joined Arsenal from Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2023 and made 174 appearances for the club, scoring 36 goals. During his time at Arsenal, he contributed to a number of important moments, including scoring the equalising goal against Manchester City in the 2023 Community Shield final and scoring a crucial late winner against West Ham United during Arsenal's 2025–26 Premier League title-winning campaign. He helped Arsenal win the Premier League title in his final season at the club.[10]
On 22 July 2026, Arsenal announced the signing of Greek forward Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge on a long-term contract for £34 million. Tzolis joined Arsenal after an impressive 2025–26 season with Club Brugge, during which he helped the club win the Belgian Pro League title and was named the league's Player of the Season. He scored 22 goals and provided 29 assists in all competitions during the campaign.[11]
August
On 16 August 2026, Arsenal began the season with a 3–0 victory over the FA Cup winners Manchester City in the Community Shield final, winning the competition for the 18th time in the club's history.[13] Riccardo Calafiori opened the scoring in the 23rd second of the match, making it the fastest goal in Community Shield final history, after being played through on goal by Myles Lewis-Skelly.[14] A header from Kai Havertz doubled Arsenal's lead, with new signing Christos Tzolis providing the assist following a curled cross from captain Martin Ødegaard.[15] Tzolis provided another assist for Arsenal's third goal, finding Ødegaard inside the box, with the Norwegian sending Gianluigi Donnarumma the wrong way with a feint before calmly finishing into the empty net.[16] With his two assists, Tzolis became the first player to provide two or more assists in a Community Shield match since David Beckham did so for Manchester United against Newcastle United in 1996.[17]
On 21 August, Arsenal began their title defence with a 3–0 home victory over newly promoted Coventry City in the Premier League.[18] Kai Havertz opened the scoring with a composed finish following an assist from Riccardo Calafiori, before Bukayo Saka doubled the lead eight minutes later in the 23rd minute, calmly finishing in the empty net.[19] Martin Ødegaard added a third in the 49th minute, with his shot taking a deflection on its way into the net, securing Arsenal's first three points of the season.[20] New signing Christos Tzolis impressed once again, receiving praise from both supporters and the media.[21][22]

Kit information
This is Adidas's eighth year supplying Arsenal kit, having taken over from Puma at the beginning of the 2019–20 season.[205][206]
- Home: The club revealed their new home kit for the 2026–27 season on 15 May 2026. The kit uses Arsenal's traditional colours of red and white. The shirt has a red body and white sleeves and is complemented by white shorts and red socks. Red shorts may be used in some away games when there will be a colour clash with the home team's kit. The shirt features subtle visual references to the Emirates Stadium to commemorate its 20 years as home of the club, including a bespoke collar inspired by the sweeping rooflines of the stadium.[207] The kit was launched alongside a film named A Different Kind of Connection.[208]
- Away: On 24 July, the Gunners released their new away kit, which reimagines the club's Bruised Banana away shirt worn between 1991 and 1993. The shirt features an engineered graphic inspired by the iconic geometric pattern, which, alongside the shorts and socks, are navy with coordinated red and yellow detailing. The shirt also features the adidas Trefoil logo, which was previously used on third kits.[209] Yellow shorts and socks may be used in away games in which there are a colour clash with the home team's kit. A week after the launch of the kit, the club released a feature-length video that detailed the full story behind the Bruised Banana pattern of the past and how it was modernised for the present day.[210]
- Third: On 3 August, the club released their new third kit, which is inspired by the "belief, ambition and creativity" that defines the club. In addition to featuring the club's iconic lightning graphic, for the first time in five seasons, the shirt has the yellow base colour synonymous with Arsenal, as well as navy and burgundy details across the entire kit.[211] The shirt is complemented by navy shorts and socks, whereby yellow shorts and socks will be used in the away games in which there are a colour clash with the home team's kit. The kit was launched with an accompanying video named The Arsenal State of Mind.[212]
- Goalkeeper: The new goalkeeper kits are based on Adidas's goalkeeper template for the season.
Pre-season and friendlies
On 25 June, the club announced that their opening fixture of pre-season will be against Spanish side Girona, who they had previously faced in the UEFA Champions League in January 2025.[213] Two months prior, the club confirmed that the squad would then travel to Ireland for the first time since August 2018 to face another Spanish side in Real Betis.[214] The club then confirmed their final two pre-season fixtures in quick succession, with Borussia Dortmund named as this season's Emirates Cup opponents,[215] followed by a home fixture against Como, who is managed by former Arsenal captain Cesc Fàbregas.[216]

Arsenal, as reigning Premier League champions, played Manchester City, the winners of the 2025–26 FA Cup. Arsenal's UEFA club coefficient was 119.000 points at the end of the previous campaign.[224] They were in Pot 1 for the league phase draw, which was held on 27 August 2026.[225] Arsenal were randomly drawn to play Real Madrid and Bayern Munich (for the second consecutive season) from Pot 1, Borussia Dortmund and Real Betis from Pot 2, Lille and Napoli from Pot 3, and finally debutant Sabah and Slavia Prague from Pot 4.[226]
