Carlos Alcaraz was the two-time reigning champion,[1][2] but withdrew before the start of the tournament due to a wrist injury. This marked the first time Alcaraz did not participate at a major since the 2023 Australian Open.

Jannik Sinner is attempting to complete the Career Grand Slam.
Novak Djokovic is attempting to become the first player to win a record 25th major title, and the first man to complete a quadruple Career Grand Slam. By making his 82nd major appearance, he broke Roger Federer and Feliciano López's joint all-time record for the most total major main draw appearances.
This tournament will mark the final French Open appearances for 2015 champion, three-time major champion and former world No. 3 Stan Wawrinka and former world No. 6 Gaël Monfils.
