  • April 1 – The Texas Department of Criminal Justice implements a policy prohibiting prisoners from receiving donated hardcover books after many were found containing synthetic drugs.[24]
  • April 13 – Representative Tony Gonzales says he will resign from Congress on Tuesday after admitting to having an affair with a staff member.[25]
