2027 NASCAR Cup Series

The 2027 NASCAR Cup Series will be the 79th season for NASCAR professional stock car racing in the United States and the 56th season for the modern-era Cup Series. The preseason will feature the Wheatley Vodka Clash at Daytona, the first time back for the event since 2021, on February 13. It will be followed by the season-opening 69th running of the Daytona 500 on February 21. The season will end with the NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race.
The season will mark the first Cup Series season without Kyle Busch starting a race since the 2002 season, following his sudden passing on May 21, 2026.[1][2][3] This season will also be the final season for Jimmie Johnson and Alex Bowman.

Team changes
Kaulig Racing is expected to leave Chevrolet at the conclusion of the 2026 season in favor of a returning Dodge to the series.[33][34]
RFK Racing is expected to run a full season as a non-chartered entry with Ryan Preece, as the current charter that is being leased from Rick Ware Racing will be fully transferred over to Legacy Motor Club as their 3rd charter for 2027.[35]
Driver changes
Following the passing of Kyle Busch on May 21, 2026 RCR's No. 8, now renumbered to the No. 33, was left without a driver.[36] Austin Hill would take his place for that weekend's Coca-Cola 600, as was announced just hours before his passing, and later the remainder of the season.[37] Hill is currently expected to pilot the car in 2027, however no confirmation has been given by the organization.[38][39]
Riley Herbst would not return to 23XI Racing for 2027, with Corey Heim stepping up to fill his slot at the team.[40]
Josh Berry would not return to Wood Brothers Racing for 2027, with Jesse Love stepping up to fill his slot at the team.
Rookies
Corey Heim and Jesse Love are expected rookies for 2027 so far.[41]
