Legislature elected in 2026 From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 7th Scottish Parliament was elected at the 2026 Scottish Parliament election.[1][2] New MSPs were sworn in on 14 May 2026.[3]

14 May 2026 Cunninghame North Presiding Officer SNP Kenneth Gibson was elected Presiding Officer and consequently resigned his party affiliation.[6]
24 June 2026 North East Scotland Conservative Conservative Douglas Lumsden resigned his seat in the Scottish Parliament after his election to the UK Parliament in the 2026 Aberdeen South by-election. He was succeeded by James Adams, who was sworn in on 24 June.[7]
22 July 2026 Glasgow Labour Co-op Labour Co-op Anas Sarwar resigned his seat in the Scottish Parliament and as Scottish Labour leader after his elevation to the House of Lords following his appointment to the Burnham ministry as Minister of State for Trade. He was succeeded by Monica Lennon, who was sworn in on 29 July 2026.
