Aneurin Evans

Evans was a member of the Llanbradach Amateur Boxing Club in Caerphilly. He was a Welsh Schoolboy champion and reached the final of the Welsh super-heavyweight championship in 1985.^[3]

In April 1986 he won the Welsh championship at super-heavyweight,^[4] which helped secure a place at the Commonwealth Games.^[5]

Evans represented the Welsh team^[6] at the 1986 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh,^[1][7] Scotland, where he competed in the super-heavyweight division.^[8] He was awarded a silver medal^[9] after being beaten by world junior champion Lennox Lewis in a one-sided final.^[10]

He was trained by Donald Braithwaite^[11] but did not continue his boxing career beyond the defeat to Lewis.^[12]
