In August 2025, ahead of the 2026 Bangladeshi general election, this parliamentary constituency was declared abolished and another constituency named Gazipur-6 was added to Gazipur district.[1] In December 12, 2025 Bangladesh Supreme Court ruled against the abolishment and gave verdict to keep the constituency.
