Charities Act 1960

The Charities Act 1960 (8 & 9 Eliz. 2. c. 58) was an act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom that replaced the Charitable Trusts Acts 1853 to 1939 with new provisions governing charities in England and Wales, and repealed the law of mortmain.[1]

Subsequent developments

The act was substantially repealed by section 98(2) of, and schedule 7 to, the Charities Act 1993 (1993 c. 10), which came into force on 1 August 1993.[4] The remaining provisions were repealed by section 75 of, and schedule 9 to, the Charities Act 2006 (2006 c. 50), which came into force on 31 January 2009.[5]
