Chong is the 19th-most-common surname among Chinese Singaporeans and Malaysian Chinese, with 23,100 bearers in the year 2000.[1] There were 10,740 Chongs found by the 2000 United States census, ranking Chong 2,561st most common overall and 96th most common among Asians and Pacific Islanders.[2] Chong was also listed among the 200-most-common peculiarly Chinese surnames in a 2010 survey of the Registered Persons Database of Canadian health card recipients in the province of Ontario.[3]
