David Winslow Sunday Jr. (born June 13, 1975) is an American politician and lawyer serving as the Pennsylvania attorney general since 2025. A member of the Republican Party, he previously served as district attorney of York County, Pennsylvania, from 2018 to 2025.

Sunday was born on June 13, 1975, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He graduated from East Pennsboro High School in 1993. Sunday enrolled at Harrisburg Area Community College, but dropped out to enlist in the United States Navy,[1] where he served from 1995 to 1999.[2] He then graduated from Pennsylvania State University and the Widener University Commonwealth Law School.

Career

Sunday began his legal career as a law clerk for a judge in the York County Court of Common Pleas.[3] He then joined the district attorney's office in York County, Pennsylvania in 2009.[4]

In 2013, the U.S. Department of Justice appointed Sunday as a special assistant U.S. attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. Sunday won the November 2017 election to serve as district attorney of York County,[4] and took office in January 2018.[2]

In July 2023, Sunday announced his candidacy in the 2024 election for Pennsylvania attorney general.[2][5] He defeated state representative Craig Williams in the Republican primary election and defeated Democratic nominee Eugene DePasquale in the general election.[6][7]

Personal life

Sunday and his wife, Lishani Senaratne, have a son.[8]
