David William Smith (born 2 November 1974) is a male retired hammer thrower who competed for Great Britain at the 1996 Summer Olympics.[1]

Biography
Smith, a member of the City of Hull AC, became the British hammer throw champion after winning the British AAA Championships title at the 1996 AAA Championships.[2][3]
At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Smith represented Great Britain in the men's hammer throw event throwning 69.32 metres in the qualifying round.[4]
He represented England in the hammer throw event, at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.[5][6][7]
In 2002 he was ranked as the country's number one, but he retired in 2003.[8]
